Karakterisasi Sifat Morfologis Dan Fisiologis Tanaman Tebu Berpotensi Tahan Kering

ABTRACT
The research was carried out at tissue culture laboratory, green house of Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry UNHAS, screen house of Politani Negeri Pangkep from October 2004 to October 2005. The research aims to identify drought tolerant crop at morphological and moleculer level at early stage that can be used as a drought standar of sugarcane and identifying variety resistance relative for water stress and high productivity. Randomized block designed was applied using 47 sugarcane somclone regenerated callus that have been treated with different concentration of PEG together with clone from regenerated from callus treated by successive level of PEG concentration of 15 g l-1 and 5 clones from callus untreated with mutagen and PEG used as control. Somaclone regenerated from TK 26 together with 90 g l-1 of PEG have higher relative value on leaf drought indeks, number of hair, rate of photosynthetic and stomata conductant.
